Happy Holidays

Taking a break from studying for a bit just to enjoy the holidays. I wish I didnt feel so guilty about it but I really needed a small break to spend time with my family and refocus.

Soon, Ill be taking another 5 hour practice exam to see how far I am in my MCAT prep.

Happy Holidays!

Just a bit frustrated. Can't seem to get this organic chem stuff down and it completely hinders my ability to worry about the other subjects. A little over a month to go for my exam and it's a bit overwhelming. Trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel though...have to stay positive.

BTW- is it bad to have dreams of carbon atoms asking you to make them a molecule?

And it continues...

So, its been several weeks since I started my first day of my MCAT class. Overall, the class is great, however, I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed with all the material, work, and keeping up with the stuff at home. One of my instructors basically said that she only studied for the exam and didn't work at all. I now understand why. Taking this class at night after working all day makes you mentally check out after a while. Since I haven''t taken Organic chemistry, that section is my ultimate nemesis.

In the end, I figure that many students have gotten through this exam while working so I should be able to (if it has been done, I can definitely do it), although I do wish I had more time to study than I currently do. I took my first practice exam and was completely shocked by my score, though everyone says that they received pretty low scores as well.

We'll see how this all turns out. Official test date is January 29th and I really need to do well.

Like I said...if it can be done, I can definitely do it...

MCAT Review Class (1st week down)

So I finally started and completed my first week of Princeton Review classes and I really don't think I'm as lost and confused as I thought I was going to be. I guess some of the stuff I learned actually stuck! Gotta say, I've had a chance to meet a great diverse group of people from the class, yet we all have the same goal in mind...get into Med School.

Overall, I feel like this test has met its match! I think one of the things that helps me out the most is how much Rick helps me out despite his own workload of studying. Have to get ready for the second week of no sleep, work and late dinners. Lets see how this next week goes!

Tomorrow.... =0)

So MCAT prep class starts tomorrow night and have received emails from my instructor, a call reminding me of the class, and 2 emails telling me how to get there and how to use the online exams. I figured that the class should go over pretty well, I mean, I have been taking classes and prepping for this for a while now...right? Only worry now is the cold, even though the building I have to go to for my classes is only one and a half blocks away from the metro station. Looks like I might have to consider buying a couple more of those thermal underwear things. i also considered buying a space heater for our little study/ den area but I have a feeling our dogs will get curious and end up without hair (maybe even roasted)!

Can't wait to start! The sooner I begin, the sooner this journey will take me to where I need to go...

Medical School application process...here we go!

So, this month I have officially deemed it my "Medical School application start month". I went on AMCAS and started inputting information for the medical school application. I swear, you don't realize how many classes you have taken until you have to input each class into the AMCAS system one by one! This is definately something that will take me more than one day.

Inputting all this information, I'm already feeling some anxiety. I start the Princeton Review classes this week and have been trying to figure out how to schedule everything from work, the class (which will end at 9:30 pm M-Th, allowing me to get home hopefully by 10:30pm), cleaning the house, preparing lunch and dinner for everyday of the week, and being able to spend some time with my husband who has his own school scheduling issues (not in this order). I'm optimistic but yet again, the butterflies in my stomach are creating more anxiety everyday.

Let's see how this week goes! For right now, I can only take things one day at a time. Medical school here I come!
